117 Tractors And Over 300 People Joined In The Fun

 On August 8th the 8th Annual Tractor Caravan will visit

 St. Croix Falls Wi.

Hosted by the Chateau St. Croix Winery and Vineyard, (1998A State Road 87), the Caravan will depart from the Winery at 10:00 am, for a leisurely ride that will end at the Almelund Threshing Showgrounds.

The tractor Caravan precedes the 54th Annual Almelund Threshing Show, That begins the following Friday.

"This is a great way to get your tractor to the show and have a lot of fun doing it" says Caravan organizer, Bruce Nelson.

In previous years the Caravan has commenced from rural Stillwater, North Branch, and Rock Creek MN.

Last year 117 tractors, some pulling trailers and wagons participated. Some 300 people joined in this fun event.

This is the second year that the Caravan has started in WI.

"We have the mayors and Police Departments from both St. Croix Falls and Taylors Falls, to thank for their coordinated efforts to make this event happen," Nelson added.

Once the Caravan leaves the Chateau St. Croix Winery and Vineyard, it will proceed south for a short distance to Beede Lake Road where it will turn right. The Caravan will turn left onto 250th Street and continue to Co. Rd I. It will make a left turn onto Co. I, and turn left onto State Road 87.

The winding 24-mile route provides two advantages. It showcases some beautiful views and keeps the group away from higher traffic areas.

Once the Caravan arrives in St. Croix Falls, it will turn right onto Hamilton Street, continuing to the first pit stop at the St. Croix River Visitor Center. Caravan goers are urged to explore the Visitor Center's exhibits and displays about the river, logging and early life, in and around the St. Criox River.

After the pit stop the group will have a Police escort through downtown St. Croix Falls. The group will continue south on Washington Street to Hwy. 8, where it will cross the river with traffic help from the St. Croix Falls Police Dept, and the Chisago County Sheriffs Dept.

Once in Minnesota the caravan will go north just a couple of blocks to River Street, Where the participants will see Beautiful river scenery on their right, and beautiful 100 year old homes on the left, including a home the served as the local hospital, before one was built in St. Croix Falls.

From River Street, the Caravan will go north on Co. Rd. 16, to Wild Mountain,Where it will stop for a second pit stop. Caravanners can watch the hundreds of tourists from far and wide enjoying a day at this recreational resort, featuring a Water Park, Alpine Slides and go-carts.

After this pit stop, the Caravan will head north and west on Co. Rd. 16 to Co. Rd. 12, enjoying views of some of the states wildest areas.

The Caravan will turn left on Co. Rd. 12 and make their way to the Amador Heritage Center for their last pit stop. The Heritage Center will be open and everyone is welcome to tour the buildings and the interesting displays inside.

On the trail again the Caravan will head SE on MN Hwy. 95 to the showgrounds. Upon arrival at the showgrounds, a picnic lunch will be served. There will be a free will donation collected for the meal; otherwise this whole day is absolutely free.

Once you are done with your lunch, you can place your tractor on the showgrounds, for the Threshing Show coming up on Friday.

For those that need a ride, two motor coaches will take you back to the winery.

The Caravan leaves at 10:00

Rescue vehicles will be provided by Roger's Towing from North Branch MN. No one will be left behind.
